Accolades from Spoleto USA artists
June 25, 2012
Spoleto USA has wrapped up this year but we’re still realing from all the fun and creativity it brings to town. k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang played at the Gaillard Auditorium. We were lucky enough to provide food for k.d. and her band before and after the performance. We just received a nice email about that night from our friends over at Spoleto USA. Read an excerpt of what they had to say.
Chad, Meg, and Jill,
I just wanted to drop you a note to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all your help with k.d. lang. It went so smoothly and I think the company was really impressed with the cordiality and attention to detail…
…you were there for them every step of the way from thermal coffee cups to steeping ginger tea. I heard James was “tweeting” pictures of the cuisine and making comments about how well they were being taken care of here. And k.d. asked for a “to go” container for her leftover lentil soup after the show!
We could not have made Sunday happen without you. Your knowledge, confidence, and calm concerning all the details really gave the company the comfort and well-being they needed to do their best show. Taking great care of our artists is a trademark of the Festival … you raised our bar even higher! Thank you!
What a great thing to hear! We were honored to be a part of it all and look forward to meeting more artists who perform for Charleston’s biggest and best event.
Here’s more about k.d. lang from the Spoleto USA website: Winner of four Grammys, eight Junos, and Canada’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Canada, k.d. lang has found her way into the hearts of a worldwide audience, including Tony Bennett, who names her as “the best singer of her generation.” From her early-career reinvention of country rock with a dash of punk to her stunning covers of standards by such artists as Leonard Cohen and Roy Orbison, she has consistently defied easy categorization. Over the years, elements of torch song, jazz, and even bossa nova have found their way into a style she has made uniquely her own—a style as elegant and sophisticated as it is impassioned. Backed by her band Siss Boom Bang, k.d. lang makes her Spoleto Festival USA debut.
